Movement Medicine
Richmond, Tasman
Description of Movement Medicine
Enjoy gentle, guided exercise in a safe and supportive environment. Movement Medicine is a circuit-style class designed for seniors, using simple equipment and machines to improve everyday movement, mobility, balance, and strength. All sessions are fully supervised by an experienced physiotherapist or rehabilitation coach.
A fun and functional class
Held in a bright, welcoming gym space, this class focuses on helping you stay active and independent. It’s a friendly group where you can move at your own pace while building confidence and capability.
What to expect
This class offers a slightly higher level of challenge than a basic senior class, with a mix of standing balance exercises and some mat-based movements. You’ll use equipment such as bands, balls, and light weights to support full-body strength and stability.
The goal is to keep you strong and capable for the activities you enjoy—whether that’s gardening, walking, spending time with the grandkids, golfing, or getting out in nature.
If you have any previous injuries or specific needs, you’re encouraged to let the instructor know. In some cases, a one-on-one session may be recommended to ensure you’re supported safely.
Who can join
Suitable for adults aged 65+ (or 55+ for Māori and Pasifika), as well as anyone at increased risk of falling who can safely take part.
Location & extras
The class is held at a convenient, accessible location with a comfortable gym environment. Many participants enjoy socialising after class with a cuppa nearby.
What to bring
Wear comfortable clothing that’s easy to move in. All equipment is provided.
