Sunday Funday Paddling Sessions

Get Involved: Sunday Funday Paddling

Turning up each week for Sunday Funday means joining a relaxed group paddle that gets children and youth out on the water for a fun morning. The session suits beginners who can swim, with simple instruction and plenty of time to build confidence through hands-on paddling. Participants learn basic techniques, explore the waterway together, and enjoy games that keep the focus on enjoyment rather than competition.

Eastside Paddlers runs this weekly Sunday morning activity in Christchurch Central City. It welcomes both new and returning young paddlers, creating a friendly atmosphere where kids can socialise while staying active. The format stays consistent so families can plan around it easily, with the group heading out together and returning for a wind-down chat.

• Hands-on paddling practice in a safe group setting
• Basic skills coaching tailored to children and youth
• Water-based games that build teamwork and balance
• Regular social time with other young paddlers
• Opportunity to progress at your own pace each week
• Supportive environment for first-time visitors

Because it runs every Sunday morning, regulars quickly get to know the routine and the other families who attend.
