Benefits of Strength and Balance Training for Older Adults 🧠👵🏼
Strength and balance classes like Strong & Stable are essential for maintaining independence and quality of life as we age. These specialised classes focus on exercises that help prevent falls - one of the most common causes of injury among older Kiwis.
Regular participation in strength and balance training can provide numerous benefits:
- Improved stability and coordination - reducing the risk of falls and related injuries
- Increased muscle strength - making everyday activities easier and more manageable
- Enhanced confidence - feeling more secure when moving around
- Better posture - reducing back pain and improving breathing
- Social connections - meeting others in your community in a supportive environment
Classes that offer seated options ensure that everyone can participate regardless of mobility challenges. The supportive group environment provides motivation and accountability, making it more likely you'll stick with your exercise routine.
Strong & Stable classes are designed to be progressive, allowing you to work at your own pace while gradually building strength and confidence. The exercises taught can also be practiced at home between classes to maximise your progress.
