Benefits of Spin Poi Exercise for Wellbeing 🧠 💪 🔄

Spin Poi offers a unique blend of physical and cognitive benefits that make it an exceptional exercise choice, especially for older adults or those seeking a gentle yet effective workout.

Developed by Dr Kate Riegle van West as part of her PhD research, Spin Poi has been scientifically proven to deliver impressive results. Her studies showed that participants who practiced Spin Poi experienced greater improvements in certain areas compared to those doing Tai Chi.

When you join our Spin Poi class, you can expect to see improvements in:

  • Grip Strength: The gentle holding and spinning motions strengthen hands and wrists
  • Balance and Coordination: The rhythmic movements improve proprioception and spatial awareness
  • Mental Focus: The concentration required creates a meditative state that enhances attention
  • Cross-Body Coordination: The bilateral movements help connect both sides of the brain

Unlike high-impact exercises, Spin Poi is gentle on the joints while still providing an effective workout. The circular movements create a flow state that many find both calming and energizing - making it as good for your mental wellbeing as it is for your physical health.

Spin Poi beautifully blends Kiwi cultural tradition with modern exercise science, creating a uniquely New Zealand fitness experience that's inclusive, effective, and most importantly - fun!
