The Benefits of Tai Chi & Qigong for Seniors

Tai Chi and Qigong are ancient Chinese movement practices that combine gentle physical exercise with mindfulness and breathing techniques. These practices are particularly beneficial for older adults and those with balance concerns. 🌿

Why Tai Chi & Qigong are perfect for seniors:

  • Improves balance and stability, reducing the risk of falls
  • Strengthens muscles without high-impact stress on joints
  • Enhances flexibility and range of motion
  • Promotes better breathing and oxygen circulation
  • Reduces stress and anxiety through mindful movement
  • Can be practiced seated or standing depending on mobility needs

Our modified Tai Chi & Qigong sessions incorporate traditional movements adapted for various mobility levels. The slow, deliberate nature of these exercises makes them ideal for seniors who may be concerned about falls or who are recovering from injuries.

Regular practice has been shown to improve cognitive function, boost immune system response, and enhance overall wellbeing. Many participants report better sleep, reduced pain, and increased energy levels after just a few weeks of consistent practice.

No prior experience is necessary to join our classes. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for free movement, and flat, supportive footwear. All equipment needed for the class will be provided.
