The Benefits of Tai Chi for Seniors 🌿

Often called "meditation in motion," Tai Chi offers remarkable health benefits for seniors, particularly in preventing falls. This ancient Chinese practice has been shown to reduce recurring falls by nearly 70% while improving balance, strength, and flexibility.

Our classes feature the Tai Chi for Arthritis programme developed by Dr. Paul Lam, based on Sun Style—a more upright form with small foot movements that's ideal for older adults. This simplified approach makes Tai Chi accessible while preserving its core benefits.

During each session, you'll develop:

  • Better balance and stability
  • Increased overall strength
  • Improved flexibility and mobility
  • Enhanced breathing techniques
  • Greater postural awareness

The gentle, flowing movements are performed at a comfortable pace in a supportive environment. You're encouraged to rest whenever needed, making this perfect for beginners and those with mobility considerations.

Join our community of Tai Chi practitioners and experience firsthand why this ancient practice continues to be recommended by health professionals throughout New Zealand for maintaining independence and wellbeing in later years.
