A fun and functional class

Senior fit is a fun and functional class provided in the sunny Habit Health physiotherapy rehabilitation gym (Lower Queen Street Medical Centre).

What to expect

  • We focus on balance and strength.
  • Exercises can be modified to meet your needs, but please note that this class is primarily conducted in a standing position or lying on mats.
  • We will help you to get onto the floor and up again if you require it, as maintaining your ability to safely get down and up is an important function as we get older.
  • We use bands, balls and weights.

This class will help you to be confident in what you love to do – walking, shopping and carrying groceries, getting up and down from a chair (and the loo of course!) The goal is to feel fitter and support an active and independent life.

The class is provided by an experienced physiotherapist.

If you have specific physical needs or prior injury you would like us to consider, please write this down or email it to us. In some cases (not all), an individual session with the class instructor will be required so that we can safely support you taking your previous medical history into account.

Vanilla Bean Café is just downstairs and participants enjoy a rewarding cuppa after class.

You will have fun while you get stronger.

Who can join

Open to anyone aged 65 years or older (55 years or older for Māori and Pasifika), or anyone at an increased risk of falling, if they can safely participate in the class.

What to bring and wear

Come along in comfortable clothing.
