Benefits of Strength & Balance Classes for Seniors 🌟
Strength and balance training is crucial for maintaining independence and preventing falls as we age. SAYGO classes are specifically designed for older Kiwis who want to stay active, mobile and connected.
These classes provide:
- Improved stability: Targeted exercises help reduce the risk of falls, a common concern for many seniors
- Greater strength: Using gentle resistance with balls, dyna bands and light weights helps maintain muscle mass
- Enhanced confidence: As balance improves, participants often feel more secure in everyday activities
- Social connections: Regular attendees build friendships and support networks, combating isolation
- Cognitive benefits: Following routines and movements provides mental stimulation
SAYGO classes are inclusive environments where everyone works at their own pace. The combination of seated and standing exercises ensures that even those with mobility challenges can participate fully and safely.
Regular attendance at strength and balance classes has been shown to significantly reduce fall risks and improve quality of life for older adults. The mix of techniques from yoga, Pilates and tai chi provides variety while targeting different muscle groups.
