How Balance Classes Help Older Kiwis Stay Independent 🌿
Falls are one of the leading causes of injury among older New Zealanders. SAYGO classes are specifically designed to address this issue through evidence-based, gentle exercise programs that focus on building the key physical abilities needed for everyday independence.
Regular participation in balance and strength programs like SAYGO has been shown to:
- Reduce fall risk by up to 30%
- Improve confidence in everyday movements
- Maintain independence and mobility
- Create valuable social connections with others in your community
These peer-led classes create a supportive, non-intimidating environment where progress happens at your own pace. The exercises might seem simple, but they target crucial muscle groups and movement patterns that help maintain stability and prevent falls.
SAYGO classes have been running successfully throughout New Zealand for many years, with thousands of older Kiwis benefiting from this Age Concern initiative. The program's focus on gradual improvement makes it accessible for people with varying levels of fitness and mobility.
