Raglan Light Exercise Group
Description of Raglan Light Exercise Group
A history of enjoyable exercise
The Light Exercise Group has a long and well-known history in the Raglan community operating for almost 30 years.
What to expect
Participants can use the variety of cardio machines for the first half hour then come together for specific strength and balance exercises with a trained leader. New people are welcome but should call Graham before attending.
Graham has been involved in the group since its inception and can advise which of the two weekly sessions is the best day for newcomers to attend. There are self-catered morning teas after each Thursday session where people chat, arrange to pick one another up if necessary and friendships are formed.
The class is 60 minutes. No class on Public Holidays and the class takes a break over Christmas and New Year holidays.
St Peter’s Hall in Bow Street has parking down the driveway in front of the hall and there is also parking on the road with a short walk down the hill to the hall.
Who can join
Open to anyone aged 65 years or older (55 years or older for Māori and Pasifika), or anyone at an increased risk of falling, if they can safely participate in the class.
New people are welcome but should call Graham before attending.
What to bring and wear
Casual comfortable clothes e.g. track pants, shorts, tights or trousers with t-shirts or sweatshirts. Lace up or snug fitting shoes or sneakers that are comfortable to move in.
Testimonial
“We’ve been out there doing it since 1995 and we’re still going strong. We just want to be strong and stable in our own homes as we age.”
