How Functional Fitness Benefits Neurological Conditions
Specialised exercise programs like Movers & Shakers provide crucial benefits for people managing Parkinson's Disease and Multiple Sclerosis. Regular functional fitness training can help:
- Improve mobility and balance to reduce fall risk and maintain independence
- Maintain muscle strength which often diminishes with neurological conditions
- Enhance coordination through targeted movement exercises
- Boost cardiovascular health with appropriate cardio activities
- Support mental wellbeing through social interaction and achievement
Functional fitness focuses on movements that translate directly to daily activities, making everyday tasks easier. The exercises are adaptable to different ability levels, ensuring everyone can participate safely and effectively.
Attending a class led by an experienced instructor like Julie, who has specialised in Parkinson's training since 2014, ensures exercises are appropriate and beneficial for neurological conditions. The group setting provides motivation, accountability, and valuable social connections with others sharing similar experiences.
Regular attendance at functional fitness classes can help slow symptom progression, maintain quality of life, and foster a positive approach to managing neurological conditions through physical activity.
