How Exercise Benefits People with Parkinson's Disease
🏋️ Regular exercise is particularly beneficial for people living with Parkinson's Disease. Research shows that targeted physical activity can help manage symptoms and potentially slow disease progression.
Exercise for Parkinson's focuses on several key areas:
- Balance and coordination: Specific exercises help reduce fall risk and improve steadiness during daily activities.
- Flexibility and mobility: Stretching and range-of-motion exercises combat the muscle rigidity common in Parkinson's.
- Strength building: Resistance training helps maintain muscle mass and improves overall physical function.
- Cognitive stimulation: Movement combined with mental engagement helps maintain brain health.
💪 Regular participation in Parkinson's-specific exercise programmes has been shown to improve quality of life, maintain independence, and enhance mood among participants.
Our specialised class creates a supportive community where you can exercise safely with others who understand your challenges. The social aspect of group exercise also provides valuable emotional support and motivation.
👥 Family members and carers are welcome to attend and participate alongside their loved ones, creating a supportive community environment.
