OsteoActive – Seated and standing exercise class designed for participants with osteoarthritis.
What to expect
OsteoActive includes functional fitness, resistance bands, dual-task drills, reaction drills, balls, bean bags, dumbbells, stretches. Each week is different.
OsteoActive educates participants on the importance of exercise for osteoarthritis self-management. Educates participants on how exercise can improve your ability to do day-to-day activities, increase mobility, increase confidence and independence, and reduce your risk of falls.
Bfit4Ever is REPS registered – the registration body for the New Zealand exercise industry. Nicola has a Bachelor of Sport and Recreation, is an Exercise as Medicine Coach, a Counterpunch Parkinson’s coach, has allied health assistant rehabilitation experience.
Who can join
Open to anyone aged 65 years or older (55 years or older for Māori and Pasifika), or anyone at an increased risk of falling, if they can safely participate in the class.
What to bring and wear
Low instructor to participant ratio. Seated and standing exercise options are available. All fitness equipment provided.
