Why Strength and Balance Training Matters for Kiwis

Strength and balance training is critical for maintaining independence and quality of life, especially as we age. For Kiwis recovering from injury or managing chronic conditions, these specialised classes offer more than just physical benefits.

Physiotherapist-led classes like Grey Matters provide professional guidance that ensures exercises are performed correctly and safely. This reduces the risk of further injury while maximising the effectiveness of each movement.

Regular participation in strength and balance programmes has been shown to:

  • Reduce fall risk by up to 30% among older adults
  • Improve confidence in daily activities
  • Enhance bone density and joint health
  • Support better posture and body awareness
  • Promote faster recovery from injuries and surgeries

What makes Grey Matters unique is its inclusive approach to fitness. The circuit-based format allows participants to work at their own pace while still benefiting from the motivational group environment. Each exercise can be modified to match your current abilities, with our physiotherapists providing hands-on guidance throughout.

Don, a current participant, shares: "The program is easily modified to meet an individual's specific requirements, and it is fun." This personalised approach ensures everyone can participate safely while still feeling appropriately challenged.

Whether you're recovering from surgery, managing a chronic condition, or simply want to improve your physical resilience, Grey Matters offers a supportive environment to achieve your health and mobility goals under expert guidance.
