Description of Gentle Yoga with Connie

A gentle yoga class which leaves you feeling relaxed yet energised. No yoga experience needed. Please contact Connie to see if she currently has space in her class. Difficulty Levels: Level 2, Level 3 Name: Connie Charlton Phone: 027 297 6147 Email: connie@jnc.co.nz

Gently explore Yoga

Gentle Yoga with Connie classes include an hour of gentle exploration of Yoga followed by 15 minutes of relaxation. They cater for everybody including those who have never done Yoga before or who are recovering from injury or illness.

What to expect

Asana, basic breathing techniques as well as Mudra and Chakra are explored.

Connie originally trained as a Science and Biology teacher and weaves information on human anatomy and physiology into her teaching to help participants understand the why as well as the show of poses and breathing techniques.

Stress relief is built into her approach to teaching. Connie began Yoga while at high school and has practised on and off for most of her life. After a more recent change of career, she undertook an extensive 200hour training course with IYTA (International Yoga Teachers Association) NZ and is a current member. She has been teaching Yoga for 8 years.

Her aim is for her students to be as agile as they can be so they can enjoy doing what they love for as long as possible.

People keen to try a class should contact Connie first as spaces are limited.

Who can join

Open to anyone aged 65 years or older (55 years or older for Māori and Pasifika), or anyone at an increased risk of falling, if they can safely participate in the class.

What to bring and wear

Participants need to bring their own mat, a blanket for relaxation and a towel. It is best to wear relaxed clothing that will give as you move. Layers are useful to adjust to changes in body temperature.
