Benefits of Balance & Strength Training for Seniors 🌟

Developed by Age Concern Otago in 2003, the Steady As You Go programme is based on the internationally recognized Otago Exercise Programme used by physiotherapists worldwide. University research has proven this approach effectively reduces falls and improves quality of life for participants.

Regular attendance at balance and strength classes like ours can provide numerous benefits:

  • Reduced fall risk - Improve stability and confidence in day-to-day activities
  • Increased strength - Maintain independence and make daily tasks easier
  • Better mobility - Move more freely with less discomfort
  • Social connection - Meet new friends in a supportive community environment
  • Mental stimulation - Brain gym exercises help maintain cognitive function
  • Improved confidence - Feel more secure when moving about in daily life

Our classes are inclusive and supportive, with exercises that can be adapted to different ability levels. Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace and rest whenever needed.

Taking part in regular, gentle exercise is one of the most effective ways for seniors to maintain independence and enhance wellbeing. The social aspect of our classes provides added mental health benefits, combating isolation while improving physical health. 🤝
