Benefits of Balance & Strength Training for Seniors πͺ
Regular balance and strength exercises are crucial for maintaining independence and preventing falls as we age. The Steady As You Go programme is based on the internationally recognized Otago Exercise Programme developed by physiotherapists at the University of Otago.
Research shows participants experience:
- Improved strength and balance within just ten weeks π
- Reduced risk of falls and injuries
- Enhanced mobility for everyday activities
- Greater confidence and independence
- Valuable social connections and friendships
These gentle exercises focus on core stability, lower body strength, and balance - all essential components for maintaining mobility as we age. The class is suitable for anyone looking to improve their balance, including those recovering from illness, surgery or injury.
Our supportive environment encourages participants to work at their own pace, with options to modify exercises as needed. The social aspect of our classes is just as important as the physical benefits, creating a warm community where lasting friendships are formed.
