The Steady As You Go class is a gentle programme to help improve balance and strength. It suits older New Zealanders with limited mobility, such as those who use walking aids or feel unsteady on their feet. You might be recovering from surgery or an injury, and this class provides a supportive way to build confidence.
At Fairfield Community Hall in Dunedin, the 1-hour weekly sessions include seated, standing, and walking exercises. Led by trained Peer Leaders, the class focuses on strength, balance, flexibility, mobility, and posture in a friendly environment. Participants often notice better stability and fewer falls risks, along with stronger social connections.
