Fundamentals Adult Gi BJJ Session

Everything You Need to Know

Adult Gi Class (BJJ 101) focuses on core Brazilian jujitsu skills in traditional gi attire. Participants begin with technique demonstrations before moving into controlled partner drills that build positional control, escapes and submissions. The format suits adults new to the sport as well as those refreshing fundamentals, with coaches offering adjustments throughout the session.

This class runs weekly on Monday evenings at the Paraparaumu venue. Everyone trains at their own pace, allowing beginners to grasp the basics while experienced practitioners refine details. Emphasis stays on safe rolling and clear instruction so attendees leave with practical improvements each visit.

• Step-by-step breakdown of fundamental positions
• Partner-based technique repetition and flow
• Light positional sparring to apply new moves
• Coaching feedback tailored to individual goals
• Gi-specific grips and guard work practice
• End-of-session review of key takeaways

Wairua BJJ hosts the session as part of its regular adult schedule, welcoming visitors alongside regular members.
