Description of Felted Slipper Making Workshop
This workshop is a must if you want to make your own felted slippers!
Whangārei Timebank member, Shanti Land, taught herself to make these cosy slippers and is happy to share her creative experience with others. She will guide the workshop, but she’s open to input from participants as it’s an ever-evolving process for her.
You’re contribution to the workshop starts beforehand!
© Buy your own fleece for felting. It must be washed and carded.
© If you’d like your slippers to have leather soles – bring pieces along - making sure they’re bigger than your feet!
© Felting is a very wet process, so you’ll need to bring the following items as it’ll make the process much easier for you:
© A couple of large towels; netting bags to felt the slippers in; liquid or bar soap, to lather up the fleece to enable felting; a rectangular plastic basin (with low sides) to contain the water as you felt.
© Duct tape or wide insulation tape – this holds the felted material together while you work it.
Timebank members: 4 time credits
Non Timebank members: $10
