Benefits of Dance-Based Fitness for Seniors

Dance-based fitness classes offer numerous benefits for older adults, combining the joy of movement with practical falls prevention training. Research shows these programmes significantly improve lower-leg strength, balance and mobility.

The Aligned to Go programme was specifically designed by Matthew Onarheim-Smith, an osteopath and former professional dancer, making it both effective and enjoyable. A 2023 study found participants experienced measurable improvements in strength and gait speed after just 10 weeks.

While our classes welcome anyone at risk of falling, they're particularly beneficial for those over 65 looking to:

  • Improve balance and coordination
  • Build strength in a supportive environment
  • Enjoy social interaction with peers
  • Prevent falls through focused training
  • Enhance overall mobility and confidence

Participants are encouraged to work at their own pace and take breaks as needed. The friendly atmosphere makes this class perfect for those seeking both physical benefits and social connection in their community.
