Boxing Benefits for Parkinson's Management 🧠 💪

Boxing training has emerged as a powerful exercise option for people living with Parkinson's disease. The rhythmic movements, balance challenges, and coordination required in boxing directly address many of the symptoms associated with Parkinson's.

Research suggests regular boxing training can help:

  • Improve balance and reduce fall risk through stance work and weight shifting exercises
  • Increase leg strength essential for mobility and daily activities
  • Enhance hand-eye coordination through targeted punching exercises
  • Boost cardiovascular fitness in a fun, engaging environment
  • Build confidence and mental resilience through progressive skill development

The group setting provides valuable social connection, while the presence of partners or friends creates a supportive atmosphere. Each session can be modified to match individual abilities, ensuring everyone can participate meaningfully regardless of their Parkinson's progression or fitness level.

No previous boxing experience is necessary to join Counter Punch. The focus is on using boxing movements therapeutically rather than competitive boxing. Come along and discover how these specialised exercises can help manage Parkinson's symptoms while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow participants. 🥊
