Maori Hill, Dunedin, Otago
Walk past the wharenui (main building) and head to the wharekai (dining area). All dining area lights will be switched on and clearly visible through the large windows and sliding doors.
Pātaka Ora offers a regular community kaupapa centred on life enhancement through manaakitanga, connection and wellbeing. This welcoming space at Araiteuru Marae brings together whānau, kaumātua, individuals and local organisations to share nutritious meals, locally grown produce, kōrero and practical support. 🌿
Sessions run for 90 minutes and remain completely free, relying on koha and volunteers. All are welcome whether attending for a meal, to volunteer, meet others or reconnect with whānau. The focus stays on strengthening whanaungatanga while ensuring access to healthy kai and a genuine sense of belonging.
Participants leave with both physical nourishment and stronger community ties.
Events take place at Araiteuru Marae, in Wakari, Dunedin. Walk past the wharenui to reach the well-lit wharekai dining area. Ample parking includes accessible spaces, while a nearby bus stop supports easy public transport access for those without vehicles.
Disclaimer:
In the event of a hui mate (tangihanga), Pātaka Ora will be cancelled to allow our whānau and marae community to uphold tikanga, provide support, and attend to the needs of the bereaved whānau.
