What is Barre and Why Kiwis Love It? 🩰

Barre is a dynamic fusion workout that combines elements of ballet, Pilates, yoga and functional training to create a comprehensive full-body exercise experience. Popular throughout Auckland and beyond, this distinctive fitness method uses a ballet barre for support while incorporating small, precise movements to work muscles to fatigue.

As a Level 3 class, this Barre workout at Albany Stadium Pool is specifically tailored for participants who:

  • Have good mobility and can move around easily
  • Possess a strong fitness foundation
  • Maintain good strength and balance
  • Feel confident engaging in challenging physical activities

During your Barre session, you can expect to:

  • Strengthen and tone: Target multiple muscle groups including core, glutes, thighs and upper body
  • Improve posture: Focus on alignment helps correct imbalances and enhance spinal positioning
  • Boost stability: Develop deeper control through small isometric movements
  • Enhance flexibility: Incorporate stretching elements to improve range of motion

Barre is particularly effective for developing long, lean muscles without adding bulk. The controlled nature of movements helps reduce impact on joints while still providing an intense and effective workout. Come prepared in comfortable exercise clothing and grippy socks if you have them. 💯
