Welcome to Canterbury Catchball

Canterbury Catchball is a small, volunteer-run community group supporting women’s participation in Catchball in the region.

Catchball is team sport similar to volleyball, but easier to play—players catch and throw the ball instead of hitting it. It requires fewer technical and physical skills, making it safe and accessible for adult women across a wide range of fitness levels. It is especially suitable for those whose age, confidence, skill level, or life commitments make other team sports difficult to join.

Catchball also has a strong social focus, creating opportunities for connection and belonging alongside physical activity. Currently, we run three teams: in Lyttelton, Richmond and Papanui.
