About Whangarei Theatre Company
Inside Whangarei Theatre Company
The Forsyth Barr Riverbank Centre serves as the home of Whangarei Theatre Company. Company members built the centre in the 1980s. The venue includes an auditorium that seats 170 and supports productions to a professional standard.
Each year the company stages several shows in its complex on Reyburn House Lane. For more than 70 years Whangarei Theatre Company has coached and developed creative people while providing performance opportunities across the community.
The centre also hosts Making a Scene Drama and Voice academy. These sessions run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4-7pm and focus on speech and drama. They help young people build confidence and social skills. Students from the academy perform at community events and take roles in productions across New Zealand and beyond.
