The Whangārei Repertory Society Inc. is Northland's oldest continuously running theatre society. The WRSI has been providing entertainment for Whangārei since 1948 and is the owner/operators of The Octagon Theatre, Northlands oldest purpose build theatre. The Octagon Theatre is a charming, intimate, boutique black box theatre nestled behind a gorgeous 120 year old kauri villa which holds the societies three course meals before all its major productions. The theatre itself seats fifty people, allowing for another level of intimate storytelling and cozyness. The Octagon theatre, as the home of the WRSI, annually holds four major productions from the society. Spanning from music halls, plays and musicals from both contemporary and classical databases. In the interium of the major productions, the Octagon becomes a venue for local art festivals, caberets, improv shows, touring acts and more!
