Benefits of Standing Pilates for Kiwis of All Ages

Standing Pilates offers a brilliant alternative to traditional mat-based Pilates, making it particularly accessible for those who might find floor exercises challenging. This upright approach to Pilates brings several unique advantages to your fitness journey:

  • Improved everyday function: By exercising in a vertical position, you'll strengthen the muscles you use daily for walking, climbing stairs, and maintaining balance
  • Enhanced posture awareness: Standing exercises heighten your awareness of alignment, helping correct postural issues that contribute to back pain and discomfort
  • Better balance and stability: Working against gravity challenges your core and stabilising muscles more intensely than floor exercises
  • Increased bone density: The weight-bearing nature of standing Pilates helps promote bone health, particularly important for older adults
  • Greater ankle and foot strength: Often overlooked in fitness routines, standing Pilates specifically targets these crucial areas for better overall stability

This class creates a supportive environment where you can progress at your own pace while building fundamental strength that translates directly to improved mobility in everyday life. The combination of mindful movement with functional strength training makes Standing Pilates an excellent choice for those looking to maintain or improve their physical wellbeing.
