Southland Philatelic Society Monthly Meeting

Your Guide to Monthly Stamp Meetings

Stamp collectors gather at the Senior Citizens Centre for a relaxed evening focused on postage stamps, first day covers and related memorabilia. Attendees bring items from their own collections to share, discuss recent acquisitions and compare notes on New Zealand and international issues. The format is informal, with time set aside for show-and-tell, light trading and questions from newer collectors. Youth and adults attend together, creating a supportive space where beginners can learn from more experienced members while seasoned collectors enjoy specialist conversation.

The group meets on the first Thursday of every month, giving regular participants a steady rhythm for their hobby without requiring weekly commitment. Open to visitors as well as regular attendees, each session offers a chance to handle physical stamps, learn identification techniques and hear updates on upcoming regional events. Many people leave with new ideas for their albums or contacts for future swaps.
