Benefits of Senior Fitness Training for Active Older Adults ποΈββοΈ π₯
Regular fitness training in your senior years offers tremendous health advantages that extend far beyond physical appearance. SeniorFIT+ classes are specifically tailored to help active older adults maintain their independence and quality of life.
Resistance training is crucial for older adults as it helps combat age-related muscle loss (sarcopenia), which typically begins after age 30 and accelerates after 60. By participating in our SeniorFIT+ classes, you'll help:
- Preserve bone density - reducing fracture risk and osteoporosis concerns
- Improve balance and coordination - decreasing fall risk significantly
- Maintain joint health - easing arthritis symptoms and improving range of motion
- Boost metabolism - helping manage weight and improving energy levels
- Enhance cardiovascular health - improving heart and lung function
- Support cognitive function - studies show regular exercise helps maintain brain health
The combination of cardio and resistance training in SeniorFIT+ creates the perfect balance for overall health. The cardio components improve heart health and stamina, while resistance elements maintain muscle mass and functional strength for everyday activities.
Our classes incorporate movements that mimic daily activities, such as getting up from the floor, which is particularly valuable for maintaining independence. Research shows that the ability to rise from the floor is strongly correlated with longer life expectancy in older adults.
Join our community of active seniors at West Wave who are committed to maintaining their vitality and independence through effective, enjoyable exercise. Wear comfortable clothing, supportive footwear, and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the session.
