A place for creativity, movement and friendship

The Thames Hauraki Dance Theatre is led by Sarah Fitzsimons. As well as a teacher, Sarah is herself an accomplished dancer in classical and contemporary dance. Prior to moving with her family to Thames, Sarah was teaching dance in Wellington and has extensive experience in dance schools internationally. We are very grateful to have her here! What to expect

Senior Swans® is a ballet syllabus that enables adults, even as complete beginners, to learn and enjoy ballet in a fun, safe and supportive environment. Sessions are guided throughout by your teacher Sarah and run for 45 minutes. Beside the dance studios is a lounge area - perfect for occasional tea & cake after class!

Who can join

This class is for older adults who are looking to improve their physical well-being in a welcoming environment. Whether you're new to ballet or have danced previously, your experienced and well qualified teacher Sarah, will help ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Much of the class is done at the barre and you can stay there as long as feels right. If you’ve never danced before but have always wanted to – now is your time!

What to bring and wear

Come down Edgar Clark Drive, and the Dance Theatre is behind the grandstands. Wear comfy clothes and socks or soft soled shoes.
