Senior Fit - Gentle Fitness Class
Richmond, Tasman
Description of Senior Fit - Gentle Fitness Class
Build strength, improve balance, and stay active in a safe and supportive environment. Senior Fit is a very gentle circuit-style class designed for older adults, using simple equipment and machines to support functional movement, mobility, and confidence. All sessions are fully supervised by an experienced physiotherapist.
A fun and supportive class
Held in a bright rehabilitation gym at Lower Queen Street Medical Centre, this class has a friendly, welcoming feel. It’s a great place to move at your own pace while enjoying the encouragement of others.
What to expect
The focus is on improving balance and strength for everyday life. Exercises can be adjusted to suit your needs, with most activities done standing or on mats. Support is always available if you need help getting down to the floor and back up—an important skill for maintaining independence.
You’ll use a range of equipment such as bands, balls, and light weights to keep things varied and effective. The class is designed to help with everyday tasks like walking, shopping, carrying groceries, and getting in and out of chairs.
Sessions are led by a qualified physiotherapist who can adapt exercises if you have injuries or specific needs. In some cases, a one-on-one session may be recommended to ensure you are supported safely.
Extras
Many participants enjoy a social cuppa after class at the café downstairs.
