Benefits of Chair-Based Exercise for Mobility & Wellbeing

🌟 Chair-based exercise programmes like Sit & Be Fit provide an accessible way for Kiwis with mobility challenges to stay active and maintain independence. These gentle classes are specially designed to improve strength, flexibility and balance while minimising strain on joints.

Regular participation in seated fitness activities can deliver significant health benefits:

  • Improved circulation - gentle movement helps blood flow throughout the body
  • Better flexibility - maintains and improves range of motion in joints
  • Increased strength - helps with everyday activities like standing up safely
  • Enhanced balance - reduces fall risk while building confidence
  • Social connection - combats isolation while building community bonds
  • Mental wellbeing - releases mood-boosting endorphins and improves cognitive function

Chair exercises are particularly valuable for those recovering from injury, managing chronic conditions, or dealing with age-related mobility changes. The supportive environment ensures everyone can participate at their own pace without feeling pressured.

💪 Even if you've never exercised before, it's never too late to start! These classes are designed to be progressive, allowing you to build strength and confidence over time while enjoying the company of others in your community.
