Fall Prevention Through Gentle Movement for Kiwi Seniors 🧠 🚶‍♀️

SAYGO classes provide a supportive environment where even small movements can make a significant difference to your balance and strength. Each session includes hand coordination exercises to improve balance, seated exercises, and standing movements that can be adapted for those who prefer to remain seated.

These classes are particularly valuable for older Kiwis looking to maintain independence and prevent falls. The peer-led approach creates a friendly, non-intimidating atmosphere where participants can progress at their own pace while enjoying social interaction.

The exercises taught at SAYGO have been specifically designed by health professionals to address the physical challenges that come with aging. Regular attendance can help improve:

  • Balance and stability: Reducing the risk of falls
  • Muscle strength: Particularly in the legs for better mobility
  • Flexibility: Making everyday movements easier
  • Confidence: Building assurance in your physical abilities
  • Social connections: Meeting others in your community

The classes follow a consistent structure that allows participants to become familiar with the exercises while providing enough variety to keep sessions interesting. The peer leaders receive specialized training through Age Concern for 10 weeks before leading classes independently.

Whether you're recovering from an injury, managing a chronic condition, or simply wanting to stay active as you age, SAYGO offers a welcoming environment where every achievement is celebrated, no matter how small.
