Steady As You Go Balance and Strength Class in Kaikohe

This Steady As You Go class helps older Kiwis build strength, balance, posture, and movement to prevent falls. It's aimed at golden oldies with limited mobility who use walking aids or feel unsure on their feet, as well as those with reasonable mobility who walk unaided and have average strength. You'll get more stable and mobile through simple activities done seated, standing, or walking. The classes create a social, happy time each week with a friendly, supportive community of like-minded people.

Held at the Senior Citizen Hall in Kaikohe, these evidence-based sessions strengthen muscles that keep you upright and improve spatial awareness. They also enhance flexibility, joint mobility, coordination, and confidence in daily tasks, while reducing fear of falling. Many notice easier walking, standing from chairs, or climbing stairs after just a few weeks. The instructors offer modifications so everyone can join in safely at their own pace.
