Why Strength & Balance Classes Matter for Kiwi Seniors πŸ’ͺ

Balance and strength exercises are crucial for maintaining independence and preventing falls as we age. This programme is based on the internationally recognized Otago Exercise Programme (OEP), developed right here in New Zealand.

Research from the University of Otago has shown participants experience:

  • Improved strength and balance within just ten weeks
  • Reduced risk of falls and injuries
  • Increased confidence in daily activities
  • Better overall mobility and flexibility
  • Enhanced wellbeing and social connections

Each session includes a variety of exercises focusing on:

  • Core strength and stability
  • Balance improvement
  • Flexibility and mobility
  • Posture correction
  • Coordination and brain health

What to bring: Just wear comfortable clothes, flat shoes, and bring a water bottle. The friendly, supportive atmosphere makes this class perfect for those who might feel nervous about exercise or who have recently completed physiotherapy after surgery or injury.

No previous experience needed - our trained leaders will guide you through each exercise at your own pace. Come along and join our community of active seniors! 🌟
