Why Balance and Strength Training Matters for Kiwi Seniors
Regular balance and strength training is essential for maintaining independence and preventing falls as we age. This evidence-based programme was developed right here in Otago and has shown remarkable results for participants across New Zealand.
Based on the internationally recognized Otago Exercise Programme (OEP), these classes have been scientifically proven to:
- Reduce fall risk significantly
- Improve physical strength and balance
- Boost confidence in everyday movements
- Enhance overall mobility and independence
- Provide valuable social connection
Participants report feeling more stable when walking, greater confidence in navigating uneven footpaths, and improved ability to get up from chairs and perform daily activities.
The supportive group environment means you'll make new connections while improving your health - a true win-win for physical and mental wellbeing.
Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes, and bring a water bottle. All exercises can be modified to suit your individual needs and abilities, and you're encouraged to take breaks whenever needed.
Join our St Clair group and discover why thousands of Kiwi seniors have made this programme part of their weekly routine!
