Benefits of Balance & Strength Training for Seniors 🌟

Balance and strength exercises are crucial for maintaining independence and preventing falls as we age. The Steady As You Go programme is based on the internationally recognized Otago Exercise Programme developed by the University of Otago.

Research has shown that consistent participation in these classes provides numerous benefits:

  • Improved strength and balance
  • Reduced risk of falls
  • Enhanced mobility and confidence
  • Better posture and awareness of movement
  • Increased overall wellbeing

Beyond the physical benefits, these classes offer valuable social connections. Many participants form lasting friendships while improving their health in a supportive group setting.

The exercises are particularly beneficial for those who:

  • Are recovering from injury or surgery
  • Feel unsteady on their feet
  • Want to maintain independence
  • Need gentle, supervised exercise
  • Seek a supportive community environment

While designed primarily for over-65s, these classes welcome anyone concerned about falls or looking to improve their balance in a gentle, supportive environment. ✨
