Free Sewing Workshop for All Ages in Whangārei
Avenues, Whangārei, Northland
What to Expect at Make and Mend Sewing Workshop
Many people have a sewing project sitting at home waiting for the right time and space to finish it. This free workshop at He Awhi Rito gives you that space along with fabric, machines, and friendly guidance so you can finally complete it. The main project for the session is sewing hot water bottle covers, with a good selection of donated fabrics available to choose from. If that does not appeal, you are welcome to bring your own item to work on.
The session runs for two and a half hours and suits beginners through to intermediate sewers. All ages are welcome, and a mentor will be on hand to answer questions and offer tips. Machines are already set up, so you can arrive and start straight away. The only cost is your time, as entry is completely free thanks to support from Whangārei District Council.
Attending gives you the chance to meet other locals who enjoy making and mending. Sharing skills and chatting over fabric creates a relaxed, supportive atmosphere where people of different ages and experience levels learn from each other. Whether you want to finish a gift, repair clothing, or simply try something new, the workshop provides both practical help and a friendly community setting.
