Since its founding in 1975, Whitby Tennis Club has been a cornerstone of the local sports community, providing a fantastic space for tennis enthusiasts of all ages and abilities. As a dedicated tennis club, we cater to everyone, from casual players seeking a friendly hit to semi-competitive members participating in mid-week evening leagues. Our club also supports weekend interclub teams across various grades, including Regional, Men’s, Women’s, Mixed, and Junior categories, competing in Wellington and Kapi Mana competitions from October to March with a break over Christmas. With professional coaching available, we’re committed to helping players improve their game, whether they’re just starting out or honing advanced skills.

Found in the heart of Whitby, Porirua, our club boasts an ideal setting for tennis lovers in the Wellington region. We’re located at 27 Solander Place, a convenient spot with ample off-road car parking for members and visitors. Our four courts feature a rebound synpave surface, with primary courts equipped with floodlights for evening play until 10:00pm. Well-appointed clubrooms add to the experience, and for those looking to host events, our facilities—including the courts and a kitchen with an oven and microwave—are available for hire at competitive rates, with hours from 8:00am to 10:00pm most days and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Membership and Court Access

Whitby Tennis Club offers flexible membership options to suit a variety of needs, whether you’re a junior, senior, or looking for social or interclub play. Our courts are accessible to the public outside of club usage times, which include Monday from 3:30pm to 8:30pm, Tuesday from 6:00pm to 9:30pm, Wednesday from 3:00pm to 9:00pm, Thursday from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, Saturday from 8:00am to 6:00pm (all day during interclub), and Sunday from 9:00am to 3:00pm. Typically, all four courts are in use on Wednesdays and Saturdays, but it’s worth checking other times for availability.
