Whangārei, Northland
We are a friendly group of outdoor enthusiasts. Whether you are new to the region or a local looking for adventure, you are welcome here.
Welcome to Whangarei Tramping Club
From easy coastal walks to challenging bush bashes, we have Sunday day-tramps to suit various fitness levels. It's the perfect way to stay active. We explore the hidden gems of Northland. We take nothing but photographs and leave nothing but footprints, respecting our unique environment.
While we do have easier walks, this is a group for trampers with a reasonable fitness level. If you are uncertain please talk to a trip leader or our tramp coordinator before coming along to a tramp. Please ensure that you have a good raincoat and strong walking shoes. Our tramps often involve muddy and wet conditions. Sandals or jandals are not suitable footwear!
How do I attend a tramp?
Check out the tramps on our website at https://www.whangareitrampingclub.co.nz/tramps.html
Pick a tramp that looks suitable and on the Saturday (or earlier) before the tramp ring the organiser. Please explain that you are new to the group and the organiser will ask you a few questions to ensure that it is a suitable tramp for your fitness levels. They will also check that you have suitable footwear and wet weather gear.
Turn up at the meeting point on Sunday morning at 8.30 am. The meeting point is also listed on the Tramps page of our website.
Enjoy the tramp!
You are welcome to come to 3 tramps as our guest before we ask you to join up.
If you have any questions please contact our tramp coordinator, Sheryl, by email tramps@whangareitrampingclub.co.nz, or by phone 020 4097 1081. Other committee members' details are listed on our website and feel free to contact them if you cannot get hold of Sheryl.
