Welcome to Tokoroa City Lions Club
Tokoroa City Lions Club stands as a pillar of community service in the Waikato region, embodying the spirit of togetherness and support that defines Lions Clubs worldwide. As a mixed-gender club, we welcome individuals from all walks of life to join us in making a tangible difference. Our initiatives are deeply rooted in helping those around us, from providing essential resources to supporting vital local causes. Whether it’s through our well-known firewood programmes or financial contributions to organisations like Lions Cancer Lodge and Tokoroa Hospice, we strive to uplift our community every day.
Making an Impact in Waikato
Making a mark in Tokoroa, our club is centrally located at 38 Chambers Street, Tokoroa 3420, placing us at the heart of this close-knit town in the Waikato region. Tokoroa is a place where community matters, and we’re proud to play a key role in fostering that spirit. Our location allows us to effectively coordinate efforts like forest firewood access, where we manage community access to plantations for personal firewood gathering between October and February, with just a small charge. This initiative, alongside our pensioner firewood programme—where we cut and deliver donated wood to those in need—reflects our commitment to practical support for Waikato residents.
Our Community Initiatives
One of the standout features of Tokoroa City Lions Club is our unique firewood programmes. We work with local forest owners who generously allow us to manage access to their plantations, enabling community members to collect firewood for personal use. This service, available from October to February, comes with a small fee and is a testament to our dedication to sustainable community support. Additionally, our pensioner firewood initiative ensures that elderly residents stay warm during cooler months by delivering donated wood, often cut by our own members. These efforts are just one way we serve Tokoroa and the wider Waikato area.
Supporting Local Causes
Beyond firewood, our club is recognised for proudly displaying Lions Club banners around town, symbolising our presence and commitment. We are also steadfast financial supporters of essential local organisations, including Lions Cancer Lodge and Tokoroa Hospice, as well as many other community projects. Our goal is to provide both practical and financial assistance where it’s needed most, ensuring that our efforts as a Lions Club resonate throughout Tokoroa. If you’re a visitor interested in joining us for a meeting and dinner, please reach out to our contacts by 11am on the meeting day to make arrangements.
Join Us in Making a Difference
Tokoroa City Lions Club is more than just a community group; it’s a family dedicated to service. We invite anyone in the Waikato region who shares our passion for helping others to get involved. From hands-on projects like firewood delivery to supporting life-changing causes, there’s a place for everyone in our Lions Club. Together, we can continue to build a stronger, more connected Tokoroa community, ensuring that no one is left behind in times of need.
