Welcome to Ōtaki Pottery Club
Harnessing a shared passion for ceramics, the Ōtaki Pottery Club has been a cornerstone of the arts community since its establishment in 1989. Originating from Adult Education programmes at Ōtaki College in the 1970s, our club has grown into a thriving space for nearly 200 pottery enthusiasts. We are proud to be an inclusive environment, welcoming members with disabilities and supporting independent potters. Our mission is to ensure access for everyone, including those facing financial hardship or living on fixed incomes, recognising the therapeutic benefits and joy that working with clay can bring. Our facilities are a comprehensive hub, providing everything needed for the craft under one roof. From classes and workshops to exhibitions at The Tote Modern Gallery, we offer endless opportunities to learn, create, and connect through pottery in Wellington.

Headquartered in Ōtaki, Wellington, the Ōtaki Pottery Club is deeply rooted in the local community. Located in the heart of the Kapiti Coast, our club serves as a gathering place for potters and art lovers across the region. Highlights include the family-friendly Public Raku, the Festival of Pots and Garden Art held at Anam Cara Gardens during the Wellington Anniversary weekend, and the Star Glaze festival celebrating Matariki and ceramics. Operated entirely by dedicated volunteer members, our club remains a vital part of the Wellington arts scene, promoting pottery and providing a space to share skills and ideas.
