Welcome to Otaki Pony Club

Immerse yourself in the exciting world of equestrian sports with Otaki Pony Club, including the Equestrian Horse Club, a dedicated community for young riders aged 5 to 17. Based at the iconic Otaki Racecourse, our club provides a nurturing environment for members who own or lease a horse or pony to develop their skills and passion for riding. Our season spans from August to April, featuring fortnightly rallies that build confidence, teamwork, and expertise. Whether it’s through thrilling games, show jumping, or navigating our excellent cross-country jumps, there’s something for every young rider at our pony club in Wellington.

Our Location in Ōtaki

Head to the heart of Ōtaki, Wellington, and you’ll find us at the Otaki Racecourse on Te Roto Road. This prime location offers easy access for local families and provides a fantastic setting for equestrian activities. Our paddocks next to Te Roto Road are home to top-notch cross-country jumps, perfect for training and competition. During daylight saving, we hold mounted rallies on Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 7:00 pm, while the rest of the season sees us gather on Saturdays from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Being in Wellington, we’re part of a vibrant regional community of equestrian enthusiasts, making our club a hub for young riders to connect and grow.

What We Offer

Otaki Pony Club is more than just a place to ride—it’s a place to thrive. Our members enjoy a diverse range of activities, from horse trekking to competitive events. Each season, we host a gymkhana, a jumping day, and a combined training day, giving riders the chance to showcase their skills. Additionally, our club supports two or three Horowhenua Pony Club events, fostering regional collaboration. With a great selection of games and show jumping gear, every rally is an opportunity for fun and learning. We’re passionate about equestrian sports and are always eager to welcome new faces to our Ōtaki pony club.
