We also organise club summit tramps on Mt Taranaki, though open summit climbs are not offered. With trips every second weekend and monthly meetings at our club rooms, there’s always an opportunity to connect with fellow outdoor enthusiasts.

Membership and Location

Magnificently based in Hāwera, Taranaki, our club is at the heart of a region renowned for its dramatic landscapes and outdoor opportunities. South Taranaki provides the perfect backdrop for our diverse activities, with Mt Taranaki standing as an iconic landmark. Our club proudly owns Kapuni Lodge, a private hut on the mountain, available for hire at affordable rates—$10 per adult ($5 for under 13s) for members, and $25 ($15) for non-members. This cosy lodge is ideal for overnight stays during tramps or family outings. Our central location in Hāwera makes us easily accessible for locals and visitors eager to explore the natural wonders of Taranaki.
