Nestled in the heart of Waikanae, in the stunning Kapiti Coast region of Wellington, our club is deeply rooted in the local community. We take pride in our strong ties with residents who actively engage in our projects. Over the years, we’ve contributed an estimated $1.5 million to support initiatives in this vibrant area. Our Community Projects and Events
One of our flagship events is the annual Royal New Zealand Air Force Band concert, held at Southwards Theatre in Paraparaumu. This popular event, often selling out, has raised significant funds, including $28,000 across recent years, donated to worthy causes like Wellington Free Ambulance and Mary Potter Hospice. Additionally, our Super Garden Trail in January and Spring Fertiliser Sale are key fundraisers that showcase the beauty and spirit of Waikanae while supporting local needs.
Collaborative Efforts and Social Impact
Beyond our own initiatives, the Lions Club of Waikanae actively participates in the combined Kapiti Lions Book Fairs, held biannually in May and October. With over 60,000 books for sale, this event has raised more than $800,000 over two decades, with funds shared among local clubs for charitable distribution. We also host a special Christmas lunch for senior citizens in December, spreading festive cheer and strengthening community bonds.
