Whether it’s supporting local families or contributing to larger causes, we strive to make a lasting difference with every project we undertake.

A nestled in the northernmost suburb of Wellington, Tawa offers a friendly, residential vibe that we’re proud to call home. Known as the capital city’s welcoming gateway, this area blends suburban charm with essential amenities like shopping, schools, and light industry. Being part of such a tight-knit community inspires our efforts to foster connection and support. Our activities, from street appeals to community events, reflect the unique spirit of Tawa, Wellington, and we’re passionate about enhancing the lives of those around us.

Our Community Initiatives

One of our flagship efforts is the Tawa Lions Saturday Market, held weekly at Outlet City on Main Road from 9 am to 2 pm. Operating every Saturday except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day, this market is our primary fundraising source, having raised over $300,000 since 2006. Shoppers can find fresh vegetables, eggs, honey, and even car boot sales, all while supporting a worthy cause. Funds raised have enabled significant contributions, such as a $30,000 donation to the Wellington Ronald McDonald House in 2012 through the Tawa Lions Trust.

Beyond the market, we organise the much-loved Tawa Lions Christmas Parade each year, uniting local organisations and groups in a festive celebration. This event showcases the heart of our community and brings joy to residents of all ages. Our members also contribute through regular activities like driving for the Whitford Brown Trust, collecting for street appeals, and selling Lions Christmas cakes—a holiday favourite. Additionally, we’re committed to sustainability, recycling items like used batteries, wine bottle tops, aluminium, and eyeglasses for refurbishment and distribution to the Pacific Islands.
