Swimming Excellence for All Levels

Swimming is at the heart of Kiwi Swim Club, a family-friendly club that welcomes all school-age swimmers from beginners learning to swim through to a nationally competitive level. Our inclusive approach ensures everyone finds their place, whether just starting out or aiming for high achievement. Club Night is the cornerstone, where new swimmers are assessed and allocated a lane in either the Learners Pool or the Main Pool alongside others of a similar swimming level. Swimmers continue to be assessed periodically during the year, changing lanes as they make progress and build confidence in the water.

Our Club Squad consists of up to 24 swimmers aged between 8-14 years, who have reached a certain level in their swimming and wish to improve their technique. Many squad swimmers choose to enter swim meets and progress into regular competitive swimming, but there is no obligation to do so. Swimmers are invited to join the squad, which trains on the club night in the deep end of the Main Pool from 6.15 – 7.15 pm. This dedicated time focuses on refining strokes and endurance in a supportive setting.

Additional Training Opportunities

Deep-end main pool swimmers also have the opportunity to come along to a Thursday 6:15-7:15 session with our club squad coach, providing extra practice to accelerate development. For those seeking additional training or a higher level than the Development Squad, integration into the Dunedin Swim Coaching Board (Swim Dunedin) structure is recommended. Competitive swimmers train with Swim Dunedin and do not attend regular club nights but are welcome to join in on ribbon nights and all club activities, ensuring they remain connected to the community.
