Since its establishment in 1951, the Green Point Yacht Club has been a vibrant hub for yachting enthusiasts in Southland. With approximately 40 members, the club is dedicated to the encouragement of yachting and boating generally. It owns and manages essential slipping and dinghy storage facilities at Green Point, while also overseeing the adjacent mooring area. These facilities, constructed between 1954 and 1958, remain the only community-based recreational boating resource in the upper reaches of the harbour, offering a reliable base for local boaters to launch their adventures.

Our Location and Community Role

Located along the Bluff Highway in Greenpoint, Southland, the Green Point Yacht Club is ideally positioned to serve the region's boating needs. Nestled in the southern part of New Zealand, this area provides stunning coastal access, making it a prime spot for yacht club activities. The club's efforts extend beyond maintenance to fostering community engagement through events like the annual Bluff to Stewart Island yacht race, typically held in February. All members and prospective new members are encouraged to participate in the Annual General Meeting in May and the working bee in September, strengthening the bonds within Southland's boating community.
