Grab a bowl and join the fun at Eastbourne Bowling Club, a premier destination for lawn bowls in New Zealand. Established in 1907, our club has a proud history, including being the home of the 2016, 2017, and 2018 National Inter Club Men’s Champions. Our Men's Premier team also clinched the Team of the Year title at the Hutt Valley Sports Awards in 2017 and 2018. Whether you're an experienced bowler or just curious to try, we offer a welcoming environment with competition bowls from September to May, casual roll-ups, and a vibrant Community Bowls programme. Beginners are encouraged to join, with coaching available from our senior members to help you master the basics.

Settled in the heart of Eastbourne, Lower Hutt, our club is just a three-minute walk from Eastbourne Village in the Wellington region. Tucked away down a quiet right of way, we provide a peaceful setting for bowlers to enjoy our meticulously refurbished natural green, re-sown in 2016 and considered one of the finest in New Zealand. After a game, take a stroll through the village to explore the Heritage Trail, starting outside the library and ending 2 km away at the Wahine mast—a perfect way to soak in the local history and scenery of Wellington.

Activities and Social Events at Our Club

At Eastbourne Bowling Club, casual and social bowls are the heartbeat of our community. During the summer season (September to May), men can join our casual player roll-up every Tuesday at 2:30 pm, while women are invited to a social roll-up on Fridays from 2:00 pm. In winter, the men's roll-up shifts to Naenae Bowling Club. We also run a Community Bowls programme, ideal for teams looking to get involved. No experience? No worries—coaching is available for newbies, and you can play in mufti and flat-soled shoes during mid-week casual games.

Our club rooms are available for hire, perfect for a range of functions in the Wellington area. Whether you’re planning a private event or a community gathering, we offer bar services if needed, and catering can be self-service or arranged through excellent local providers in Eastbourne Village. Beyond bowls, we host a variety of social events like dinners, quiz nights, and bingo nights, fostering a tight-knit community for members and visitors alike.
